Lessons from an Irish Poet and Peacemaker

The Urban Well at Saint James Church will host Poetry and Prayer in Times of Conflict: Lessons from an Irish Poet and Peacemaker, 4 to 5:30 p.m., November 14, via Zoom or in person at Tellus 360, in downtown Lancaster. Pádraig Ó Tuama, world-renowned poet, theologian and host of the Poetry Unbound segment of Krista Tippet’s award-winning initiative On Being, will read selected works on conflict, peacemaking and reconciliation, followed by a Q&A session. From 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., a livestreamed service from Saint James will focus on praying the psalms; social time will commence at 6:30 p.m. at Tellus 360 (if social distancing allows). Ticket and viewing options are available for all or part of the event.
Ó Tuama’s work centers around themes of language, power,
conflict and religion. A skilled speaker, teacher and group worker, he is the
author of four volumes of poetry: Daily Prayer with the Corrymeela Community,
In the Shelter, Sorry for Your Troubles and Readings from the
Books of Exile.
