 Natural Awakenings Lancaster-Berks

The Rhythm That Keeps Us Alive

In a perfect world, the heat of Yang energy would be soothed by the Yin within relationships, individuals and dynamic systems. Polarities in life are a beautiful display of potential balance; necessary opposing forces that would not exist without each other. This ongoing dance adds to the rhythm that keeps us alive.

Our June issue takes a look at that vitality with a focus on how we can best nurture masculine expression and prioritize the primary variables impacting men’s health. The males in our lives are multidimensional and should be given every opportunity to acknowledge their wide array of tendencies, natural states and vulnerabilities. There is certainly overlap in masculine and feminine energy expression between genders, and it remains important to appreciate that our brothers, fathers, sons and uncles all present an individualized, bio-emotional and psychosocial make-up.

Our contributors this month look at the risk of overlooking needs in the face of increased daily stress, denial of natural human emotion and increased isolation. The pace of our world, assumptions and even expectations can impair a clear perspective of what is truly going on for someone immersed in stoic, hard-working cultures and a society that tends to sacrifice inner peace for success and social acceptance.

The strongest relationships are built on reciprocal giving and receiving, and most importantly, supporting the ability to identify, align with and seek out one’s own needs. The strengths of ambition and rational, action-oriented modes of being in the world are fully honored within an environment of connection and acceptance. Non-judgement and the acknowledgment that bodies are connected to minds and hearts can lead to life-saving changes that combat overworked and exhausted systems.

From nourishing ourselves with fresh, nutrient-dense foods to moving our bodies and seeking preventative strategies that support immunity and strength, every choice we make plays a role in shaping our health and vitality. Supporting ourselves supports each other, and those relationships that prioritize wellness from the inside-out will resonate with our deepest sense of wholeness to create the most enriched and meaningful life possible.

Here’s to living fully and well!
