Independent, woman-owned Lemon Street Market is now collecting a variety of TerraCycle-approved brands for recycling from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. A blue bucket is located at the top of the stairs on the mezzanine, and they have already diverted more than 100 pounds of plastic packaging from landfill in just eight months.

Sustainability Manager Olivia Schmids says, “Participating in TerraCycle provides free access for customers to bring in their empty bottles, bags and containers to be recycled. It allows customers to recycle things like chip bags, shampoo bottles and pet food bags. These types of packaging are not accepted through local municipal recycling, so it provides an extra opportunity to reduce landfill waste!”

Some popular brands that participate include Late July Snacks, Acure Beauty, I and Love and You Pet Food, and Mad Hippie Skincare.
