Transforming Sorrow Workshop

The
Urban Well at Saint James will host Jan Richardson leading
Transforming Sorrow, a virtual workshop via Zoom, on April 22 and 23, 2022, focusing
on grief, renewal and the creative life. She states, “There are periods of our
life when we have to live with grief. So how do we do that? And can we
transform it into something that has meaning and purpose?”
Learning
from the sudden death of her husband in 2013, Richardson, an ordained Methodist
minister and director of The Wellspring Studio, will explain how our losses can
invite our creative energy, and how that energy can transform grief into
something more. Her books include The Cure for Sorrow, Night Visions, In the
Sanctuary of Women, and Sparrow: A Book of Life and Death and Life.
Richardson
will read from her work, talk about the creative process, reflect upon how both
grief and creativity are untidy, unpredictable and tangled, and invite the
group to talk about their own creative practices and what part those play in
living with grief.
Cost
is $85. Sessions will be recorded and available after the workshop. For
registration and more information, visit SaintJamesLancaster.org/Jan.
