The Urban Well Hosts A Conversation with Jan Richardson

The Urban Well at Saint James Episcopal Church,
in Lancaster, is hosting The Cure for Sorrow: A Conversation with Jan
Richardson on grief, loss and stubborn hope via Zoom from 9 to 9:30 p.m., June 4, 2021, and from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., June 5, 2021. As one
well acquainted with grief following the sudden death of her husband,
Richardson writes with poetic grace about her loss.
She will share from her books The Cure
for Sorrow and Sparrow:
A Book of Life and Death
and Life as part of an invitation
into a conversation about grief and hope. Grief might be from the loss of a
loved one or the loss of landscapes due to climate change. She will speak about
how we can become whole as we enter into the strange graces that grief brings.
According to Richardson, grieving works with
the most raw and elemental forces in us and propels us in directions we
had not planned to go. “Grief helps us recognize our shared fragility and calls
forth our natural resilience,” she says.
Cost: $85/person. For
