Ecological Restoration Certificate
Learn how to partner with nature and assist in the recovery of degraded ecosystems through this three-day, hands-on intensive at the Horn Farm Center.
Gain experience and confidence in regenerating the health of our local ecology.
For anyone interested in compassionate land stewardship on their property or across natural and built communities, the Horn Farm's NEW Ecological Restoration Certificate brings together practical skill-building and enriching perspectives for deepening our sense of place on the local landscape.
This program is well-suited for active or aspiring landscape practitioners, local conservation volunteers, environmental educators, activists, and landowners with struggling woodlots and meadows that could serve as refuges for local biodiversity.
Topics covered include nature observation and assessment, planning and implementing restoration actions, and integrating multiple perspectives for ecologically-guided restoration, including TEK (Traditional Ecological Knowledge). Students will learn how to use human and plant power over chemical intervention to regenerate landscapes.
The program takes place over three Saturdays in the winter with weather contingency days to ensure optimal learning conditions in the field. Program dates/times are as follows:
- Saturday, December 14th (9am-3pm)
- Saturday, January 11th (9am-5pm)
- Saturday, January 25th (9am-3pm)
Spaces are limited, so early registration is recommended!
