Taking place September 26-29, 2024, the Horn Farm Center's NEW Wild & Uncommon Weekend celebrates the diverse ecosystem of local foods, makers, and experiences that make the Lower Susquehanna region so special!

The centerpiece of the weekend is the pawpaw: the largest edible fruit native to the eastern United States, which grows naturally right here in the Susquehanna Riverlands! Similar in taste to tropical fruits, the pawpaw is a unique, nutritious, and ecologically-significant delicacy that ripens for a short period of time from mid-September to mid-October.

The signature event of Wild & Uncommon Weekend is the 20th Annual Pawpaw Festival, presented by the Horn Farm Center. Taking place ONE DAY ONLY on Saturday, September 28, from 9am-5pm, the Pawpaw Festival features pawpaw fruit, trees, products, and merchandise available for purchase. Visitors will also enjoy local and regional food trucks, artisans, plant nurseries, small businesses, and environmental education. Throughout the day, the Horn Farm offers free farm and pawpaw orchard tours, including kid-friendly educational farm walks. Additional learning experiences hosted by vendors, regional educators, and Horn Farm staff are also featured during the event.

Debuting in 2024, Wild & Uncommon Weekend is a new extension of the Pawpaw Festival. Featuring unique seasonal tastings, guided hikes and river tours, pawpaw-themed offerings, and nature-based learning experiences, Wild & Uncommon Weekend spreads the fun and education of the Pawpaw Festival across the greater region, spotlighting local partners, nonprofits, and businesses along the way.
