 Natural Awakenings Lancaster-Berks

Mid-Winter Foraging Walk

Foraging is the act of finding and gathering wild foods. By engaging in this practice, we can provide ourselves with food and medicine, become more self-reliant, and connect with local landscapes on a deeper level.

Join us for our first monthly foraging walk of 2024!

Winter in our temperate bioregion is regarded as a lean time, often appearing stark in contrast to the abundance of summer and fall. But while many of the fruits and greens of the warm seasons have been reclaimed by the land to nurture next spring's crop, the adventurous and knowledgeable forager can still find plenty.

On this foraging walk, we'll focus on the staples of winter foraging in our region, including findings for sustenance, medicine, and other uses. Reinforcing our place as members of an ecosystem, we'll emphasize ethical foraging and ways of giving back the land.

Beginners and experienced foragers are welcome.

Pre-registration is required to attend. Visit this link to register: https://hornfarmcenter.org/civimessages/event/info/?reset=1&id=1011
